Ventbunkers – Kurzeme’s most profitable company

2014 - 10 - 16

Oil product-handling company Ventbunkers has topped the list of the 2013 highest-earning companies in Kurzeme region, reaching an annual net profit of EUR 19.23 million. Compared to the results of 2012, last year the company managed to increase its profit by more than 150 times. Ventbunkers evaluates that the remarkable result of 2013 was achieved with its management team working effectively, by stabilising its flow of cargo, by attracting new clients and by optimising the technological capacity of the company’s terminal.

JSC Baltijas Ekspresis, a subsidiary of JSC Ventbunkers, was also among the 2013 highest-earning companies in Kurzeme region. Baltijas Ekspresis came fourth in the list, having increased its profit by nearly 80% to EUR 4.44 million. In Latvia’s western-most region as a whole, the year 2013 showed companies working with a total profit of EUR 125.10 million, which is a 12.14% increase from the year before.

Although in 2013 the total turnover of businesses in Kurzeme decreased by 17.8% (mostly due to halted operations of metallurgical plant JSC Liepājas Metalurgs), there is a number of companies that managed to increase their turnover significantly. For example, the turnover of Ventbunkers grew by almost 17% reaching EUR 69.55 million. According to data from Lursoft, the result allowed Ventbunkers to come fifth among Kurzeme companies by turnover in 2013.
